Monkey-Boy on the Move

I can not keep up with my son anymore. He officially travels more than I do; and after fifteen years in the service, that's saying something.

Julian just got back from Chicago last weekend represnting San Antonio at the National Model United Nations conference. I've mentioned that before HERE. He's been doing it for the last couple of years, and eventually got good enough at it that he was selected to represent San Antonio at the University of Chicago. He flew into Chicago during a snowstorm and immediately started teaching the Texas kids how to make proper snowballs -- which they promptly creamed the Florida delegates with! Sunday afternoon on their personal time (during another small blizzard) and lead a group of 20 kids up State Street on the CTA to the Oriental Theatre, where they all saw "Wicked". (Apparently there were tickets waiting for the delegates to see the afternoon matinée, but transportation was canceled due to the snow. Julian found out and organized a group that went anyway.)

Tomorrow Julian's High School junior class leaves for Alabama. They're touring prominent locations of the Civil Rights movement and doing presentations along the way. It's a five-day trip. (Why didn't my High School have field trips like that?)

And we just learned today; Julian has been one of twelve kids selected in the U.S. to be exchange students this summer to China. The trips are spojnsored by the Chinese club he's been taking lessons with in his spare time the last three years.

China! No, really!

I can NOT keep up with this kid!
